Coffee bar · Garfield, Phoenix
Every day: weekdays 6am–3pm, weekends 7am–2pm
Eighteen grams in, thirty-six out
One latte, in three stills
Eighteen grams of the house roast, thirty-six out, about twenty-eight seconds. We pull it again if it runs fast.
Steamed to 140°F and no hotter, so it stays sweet. Oat and almond get the same care and cost the same.
A rosetta when the morning allows. $5.25 for twelve ounces, the same at the counter as on this page.

Beans
A bajada is the long slope at the foot of a desert mountain, where everything that washes down finally settles. We liked that for a coffee shop. The roaster sits behind the counter and runs every Tuesday; what it roasts is what we pour that week.
12 oz bags, whole bean or ground to order, at the counter.
Hours
Arizona does not change its clocks, so neither do we: these hours hold all year. The burritos run until eleven.

From the counter
★★★★★The menu is on the website with the prices, so I order the horchata cold brew in my head on the drive over. Open at six, which in July is the only sane time to be outside.
★★★★★Oat milk at no extra charge, and they do not make you ask about it. The cortado is the best I have had east of Seventh Street.
★★★★★Checked the site, saw they were open for another twenty minutes, and made it. They still made me a pour-over without a sigh. Get the mesquite honey latte.
